Grifols selects viastore systems, Inc. to provide Plasma Sorting Sample Machine in San Marcos, TX
GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN, --- viastore systems, a leading automated material handling solutions provider, announced today that it has been selected by Grifols to design together with Grifols Engineering, manufacture and install an automated plasma sorting sample system in San Marcos, TX.

In order to ensure that the plasma they’re storing is safe, secure and the information about that plasma is 100% accurate, 100% of the time an automated system was a good solution. Being in a -30°F freezer environment it was important for Grifols to find a partner that had experience with fully integrated material handling systems in low temperatures.
The viastore solution for Grifols includes a one aisle, double deep, mini-load system, 180 ft. of viastore manufactured Powered Roller Conveyor (PRC), a zone tracking control system and viad@tWMS and MFC for traceability, and 5 operator stations for incoming case processing.
“We are confident that with viastore as a partner, Grifols will be able to achieve the goal of receiving, sorting and tracking 30,000 to 60,000 plasma samples received on a daily basis at the San Marcos laboratory. The margin for error in tracking is zero.” Sandy Paredes, Director of Plasma Testing Operations, also advises that “Control and tracking of plasma samples is one of the primary quality control objectives at the Plasma Testing Laboratory.”
