The periphery update at seal technology supplier dt wallstabe & schneider, headquartered in Niederwinkling in Lower Bavaria, was triggered by an announcement that support for the installed EMULEX server would terminate soon. "viastore drew our attention to this fact. Then the company submitted a quote for a periphery update at a very good price/performance ratio," says Karl-Heinz Schrettenbrunner, Dispatch Manager at dt wallstabe & schneider. The old visual display terminals were replaced by 17-inch TFT monitors and the dot matrix printers substituted by faster and quieter laser printers which are now connected to the in-house network. Obsolete network components were replaced in the same move. Now order picking proceeds much speedier thanks to faster printing. Commissioning of the new equipment was well prepared and undertaken in just half a day without interrupting running warehouse operations. "For the colleagues this was something like an advanced Christmas present," says Karl-Heinz Schrettenbrunner, clearly delighted. "Our instruments were no longer up to date. The new ones are faster, operate more quietly and handling is easy. And their optical appearance is much more attractive."
