Spare parts supplies: Full availability during modernization
Planes that have to stay on ground for prolonged periods due to maintenance work are an enormous cost factor for airline companies. That’s why the automatic mini-load system of Lufthansa CityLine in Cologne (Germany) must function smoothly and efficiently 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Only in this way is it possible to ensure 100% reliable spare parts supplies.
But what happens when such an installation is being equipped with new software and corresponding hardware? The answer is simple: nothing. Because everything continues to function like clockwork. With the utmost care, viastore systems updated Lufthansa CityLine’s WMS from viaware5 to the latest viad@t version within a precisely scheduled period of time while still maintaining full system availability. Virtually all possible risks were eliminated in advance thanks to a detailed action plan which also included comprehensive in-house tests, the development of fall-back strategies during the individual reconstruction stages and pre-simulated data migration. The system was completed within the agreed time and has operated smoothly ever since without requiring support from viastore’s service hotline.
Reliable spare parts supplies are vital because “aircraft-on-ground" is time and money-consuming.
