viad@tWMS 7.0: New standard software release

viastore's standard WMS viad@t has grown over the past
decades. A fundamental revision had become necessary. This has
resulted in numerous advantages for users, including simpler
handling, shorter implementation periods, faster processes and
simpler structures. The revised database design has simplified
programming and configuration. A major change is that all previous
tables relating to load units, picking load units, parcels and
shipping units have been summarized into one single, comprehensive
table. Moreover the new release includes a new library of
objects which serves as posting basis for all business processes. It
follows a uniform concept and makes the software even more
understandable and easier to work with due to a consistent posting
logic.

The background programs have also been put on a common
foundation. They now have the same structure, a uniform and
automated logging concept and their sequence can be tested
automatically. In addition the standard dialogs have been simplified.
All business processes and the database design of the pack
station and shipment functionalities were also analyzed and
adapted to the latest requirements. Furthermore the solution
offers an interface to external products to enable periodical updating
of shipping labels or adjustments of carriers.
