World Premiere for Automated Order Picking
Maximum Picking EfficiencyFor the first time, viastore systems GmbH, based in Stuttgart/Germany, is presenting its fully automated viapick robot order picking solution at this year’s CeMAT trade fair. The new system operates absolutely independently and permits more than 600 retrievals per hour with error rates tending to zero.
Hannover/Stuttgart, 27.05.2008 – viapick retrieves recognizable, well-arranged and stackable products of totally different sizes and geometrical shapes. Just like a human order picker, the system is able to take goods out of conventional storage containers and place them into order picking bins or shipment cartons.
viapick can perform more than 600 retrievals per hour. This compares to an average of about 300 retrievals per hour achieved by human order pickers under similar conditions. At the same time, the expenditure for pick station equipment decreases since components such as computers, screens, desks and picking aides are no longer required. This means that the system amortizes after only 6 to 18 months.
Another advantage of the viapick system, which is supplied by viastore as a complete package, is that it is also capable of handling heavy or bulky products without any problems. This results in considerably improved ergonomics and work safety during order picking. The unmanned system needs no breaks and can work 24 hours a day, seven days a week at a negligible error rate – viapick always counts correctly. Altogether, viapick permits significant increases in distribution center efficiency.
